David has been leading Caritas Microfinance Bank for 5 incredible years now, joining us back in 2021. With over 28 years of heavyweight banking experience under his belt, including over a decade driving senior credit and business growth across Kenya and Tanzania, he is the definition of a strategic, forward-looking leader.
He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, is a Certified Financial Education Master Trainer, and because he’s deeply committed to the soil and the hustle, he even pursued a Master’s in Management of Agribusiness from Strathmore Business School! He’s also sharpened his global edge at top-tier institutions like the Wharton Business School.
Under his watchful eye, Caritas has gone through incredible transformations:
- Growing the Footprint: He has seamlessly expanded the bank to 10 branches and 2 dynamic marketing offices.
- The Digital Leap: He successfully steered our transaction digitization to an astounding 90%!
He carries a deep, undeniable wealth of knowledge in agribusiness and holds a massive passion for MSMEs, microbusinesses, and championing women and youth empowerment.
The Man Beyond the Suit (The Fun Stuff!)
But if you think David is just about spreadsheets, boardrooms, and macroeconomics, you couldn’t be more wrong. He is the ultimate people person! Here is a quick peek into what makes our CEO truly one of one:
- He knows your name: Seriously. He is incredibly social and has an uncanny ability to remember everyone and their names.
- An Open-Door Policy: He might compartmentalize like a pro to get the job done, but his empathy is unmatched, and his door is genuinely always open. He is quite literally the number one cheerleader for everyone’s success.
- Rooted in Community: David doesn’t just work here; he lives the community spirit. If you have a wedding, a pre-wedding, or a baby shower coming up, invite him! He absolutely loves celebrating life’s milestones with the staff.
- An Absolute Speedster: Talk about practicing what you preach when it comes to being active! David walks…like, a lot. He plays football with our Caritas team, and just to show you how competitive he is, he clinched Number 4 in the CEO’s Run at the Kenya Bankers Association Sports Day! I know… impressive, right? 🏃♂️💨
- The Ultimate Early Bird: He is up and charting the course before the rest of the world even hits snooze, keeping us constantly ahead of the financial curve.
Oh, and did we mention? He sings “You’ll Never Walk Alone” because he is a die-hard Liverpool fan! 🔴
